Tuesday is a big day for me. I will be officially starting Culinary School with Rouxbe.com. They are an online school with certification programs which are aimed at working professionals. It seems they do the training for the Marriott hotels, Whole Foods, and a few other large hospitality companies. I’m certainly not bad in the kitchen, but I want to take my “home cook” status and push myself to the next level and this seems like a great place to do just that. It’s a 6-month course with about 15 hours a week of coursework and cooking. I’m already doing close to that in the kitchen now, so hopefully it isn’t too big of a deal to add the theory and technique classes to my routine.
What does that mean for this blog? For one, I won’t be doing international food week for a while. My entire cooking schedule is going to be dictated by my classwork. However, I will be posting and sharing all of that here, so for those of you who are interested in what the experience is like, I’ll be sharing my successes and failures in blog posts each week. I’ll also intersperse some of my old Home Cook Project posts to keep things lively.
I’m REALLY looking forward to starting this class and gaining this knowledge and experience. So let’s get this thing started!
